I’ll be out of town at an Archives conference the rest of the week, so I’ve posted Miss Rose to watch over the blog. She comes from a postcard collected by David’s twice great uncle, sent to him while he was with a batallion in Arkansas from someone named Winston in St. Louis. Winston wrote his message on July 13, 1918. His batallion was on the move, but he didn’t know where it was going, except that it was “passing through a fine farming country.”
